About the Book

The illustrations for ‘Tillypuss and the Takeover Deal’, which are an important
part of the book, are by Jacky’s granddaughters, Lucy and Annie Rawle
who are both art students and for whom this is their first venture into book
illustration.

About the Author

Jacky Atkins lives in Cobham, Surrey with her husband, Richard. She has 4 children and 6 grandchildren, so children play a large part in her life. She has written articles for magazines for many years, and has had short stories and poems published. In April, 2009, her first full-length novel, The Mysterious Beach Hut, was published. This is a story for older children and adults and in a different genre from Tillypuss and the Takeover Bid, which is aimed at younger children, but also very much at their parents, who will appreciate the humour of the story at least as much as their children! The tale of Tillypuss and her adventures on behalf of Mr Jones, whose family she lives with, is taken from observations of real life and from seeing the funny side of a serious situation.

As well as writing, Jacky works part-time as PA for her husband’s firm of chartered accountants and is company secretary to her son’s company. Her interests include Mothers’ Union, a worldwide Anglican organisation through which she promotes overseas links and also works on a regular basis as a playworker for the visitor’s children at a local category ‘B’ men’s prison; playing guitar and singing, reading, learning Spanish, travel, gardening, and the family.
