hey walked through beds of colourful flowers. Lucy grabbed Alty's arm. She pulled her towards one she was smelling, “Smell this, it's exotic”.
Alty bent down to smell the sweet cent.
Erik went over with a smile on his face, “It's called Colly cut. It's a very rare flower in America”.
Lucy looked at him, “how do you know?”
“My Mum's the gardener around here”.
Alty laughed “well for one thing when you grow up you'll know how to cook, do the garden and all sorts of other household stuff”.
Alty and Lucy picked a flower each and put it in their hair. As they walked the breath taking smell of the flowers flowed around them. They were engulfed by the sweet aromas gliding on the winds.
They walked for ten more minutes until they reached the beginning of the woods.
“It looks very dark in there”, Lucy said, the expression on her face was that of a creased brow, her two eyebrows bent down touching each other at the tip. There was a clear line which broke the woods from its surroundings. They stood

About the Book
When Lucy looses her father, she feels completely alone, having lost her mother years before.
She moves into the family mansion in the mountains surrounding the town. Her Uncle, whom she has never met, is to come live with her. But there is a sinister secret surrounding Uncle Dave, and Lucy and her friends set out to discover what it is.

Written in the 1990's when the author was in her early teens, the book captures the feel of a young girl who has lost her parents and takes safety in th presence of her friends when they have to deal with a dark secret from her family's past.
