About the Book

The book is set during the Bosnian conflict, Christmas 1992 to the summer of1993.  A sad housewife of 43 and a Captain based in the capital of Croatia resume their pen friend status from another war in the Gulf 18 months prior to this one.  But, differently from before, they found during this correspondence both realized how alike they are in many slightly unusual ways, one of Psychic powers, another of deep, dark emotions, hidden away from the prying world because their lifestyles demanded a different person to be on view to the public, so the real people never managed to escape from this ‘’world’’ of theirs.

Both love music, but unaware, until now, how similar their tastes are. The letters that go between these two, basically, sad people gradually reach a crescendo of emotions which they do not understand but don’t want to relinquish these wonderful but hurtful feelings they have for each other, but the day comes when they both have to make heart wrenching decisions on their future---together or apart.

About the Author

Having spent too many years (60) writing to pen friends worldwide, enjoying the art of describing scenery, people and places of interest some will never see for themselves, including factual and historical archeology, both in the UK and abroad, it is with hope that the reader will be able to feel the emotions leap out at them from the book as they go from page to page.  The only credentials that can be applied to my life are—age and experience in writing, at school I loved to embrace other writers, no matter who they were, people like Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, even Enid Blyton, as well as many others. As I grew up I started to write the local history for local museums in the many towns and villages we moved to, and drew pictures to go with them.  I love being a ‘’watcher ‘’ of people too, there’s nothing better than sitting in a park, or by a river or lake, to see the antics of fellow humans, the different emotions which you can see, and feel, from them. Children playing with a ball or throwing stones into the water, adults rushing by at their daily toil, or lovers, hand in hand ambling slowly as though they had no cares in the world—which at these precise moments they didn’t have.

Taking photos of swans gracefully swaying by, ducks bobbing their heads up and down, little flapping tails showing, searching for food in the weeds beneath the water, trees and flowers too, they all look good in a photo, memories in later years. Hopefully the reader will embrace the cascade of emotions and feel the hurt of the people in it, In trying  to pass on my thoughts and hope many will relate with, especially in these times now.
