Voices
I hear your voice, faint, from another room
Individual letters fall to the floor, become words
And each one can contribute
When I saw you, climbing the stairs to the bedroom
I knew you were not planning on sleeping
Neither was I
I hear your voice when we can’t speak
Imagining only your lips moving, together
Forming something we… only we can share
It’s so quiet afterwards, between the pillows
Between the feathers, between the words
Unspoken, in our voices
