About the Book

While on a European trip to honor his father’s wish Michael a native of Chicago discovers that the country of Hungary has more then just souvenirs in store for him.  His ancestral place a small town in Eastern Hungary not only charms him but literally in-captivates him. Against all reason and common sense Michael falls in love under the strangest of circumstances.  In a self-deceiving desire Michael is pulled and repelled by a strange attraction to a beautiful woman.

Events at Hollóvár – at his father’s birth place – plays sweet and sour havoc with Michael’s heart and soul.  Hollóvár is in the middle of the Kunság where the inhabitants the Kuns still live a traditional life.  In Hollóvár Michael encounters many interesting characters that one way or another contributes to his unexpected torment. Michael becomes a circumstantial suspect in the most unusual crime, a crime whereby the entire male population of the town could easily be suspected.

About the Author

Istvan Fazekas was born in the easternmost part of Hungary, the region known as the Kunsag. Unlike nearby Transylvania this area is completely flat and devoid of topographical majesties. The Kunsag, however, compensates richly for lack of scenery with its unique people, tradition and interesting character.

As a child in the Kunsag the author encountered deeply held beliefs, fairy tales, superstitions and mysteries. The Kuns, inhabitants of the Kunsag are a hardheaded, stubborn, opinionated lot whom outsiders seldom understand and according to the author one has to be a Kun to decipher them.

Being a Kun himself the author delves easily into the Kun character. He gives a vivid description of village life by disecting the region's traditions and inhabitants. He explores and exposes everyone with equal candor baring the soul of many, amongst them; priest, mayor, policeman, beauty queen, farmer, and inn-keeper.I
