Once upon a time there was a tiny girl named Clarisse who lived in a country far away. She had no parents, no home, no friends, and nowhere to go. Clarisse traveled constantly, walking from village to village in search of someone to care. Her shoes were worn and her socks had holes. Her clothes were tattered and torn. Around her head and face, Clarisse wore an old scarf wrapped round and round until only her eyes could be seen. On each of her hands she wore dirty woolen socks, with holes cut out for her thumbs. Often she went to sleep at night without any food, huddled in the corner of an old box or alleyway. Clarisse was very alone. One day Clarisse grew weary of her search for someone to care. Lying down on the steps of an old brick building, Clarisse began to cry. People would walk by and see the child wrapped in her scarf and socks and tattered clothes and say, "Who are you?" "I am nobody," Clarisse whispered.

About the Book
Many years ago, missionary friends in Romania adopted a precious little girl named Nicoletta. She had been burned badly and required many surgical operations as she grew. Despite the pain, Nicoletta was a happy little girl...until she started school. In school, she was treated differently and suddenly became aware of the effects of the burn. Her heart was sad and she was deeply distressed. Her parents contacted me for any materials I could suggest that might help her. As I prayed for Nicoletta that night, this story came to me. God loved her so much, he wrote a book in her honor. She loved the book! It is my hope and prayer that you feel loved when you read it, too.
