Dragon Strife

Book Cover & Preview Text
Until recently, the villages surrounding ours have been attacking our village because we tame dragons. They do this because many dragon attacks have been occurring in their villages. They think we are causing those attacks, but we are not. We are a peaceful village. Our village is so small that only the villages around us know of it. Sadly, as of the past few weeks, we have not had to worry about them anymore because these mysterious dragons have burned down all of their villages, and the villagers have moved on.
The capital city Latipac on the west side of the island Armeren knows about our village but does not know that we tame dragons. We have developed the ability to disguise our eyes because everyone knows what a dragon tamer's eyes look like. They are so recognizable because at adulthood our eyes look more and more like dragons eyes. This helps highly increase our archery skills when in combat and allows us to see what our dragons see at any given time.
The attacks were just the beginning. I am going to tell a story about four great warriors who stopped the war against dragons and became very good friends with each other.
My story starts at sunrise in my village, Remat. A messenger was sent from Latipac, the capital city. The messenger stated that a meeting was being held to discuss the actions that were going to take place against the dragon attacks. He also stated that the leader of the village should bring the best warrior the village could offer. That is when i was chosen as the best warrior of the village. I was surprised to be chosen, but I had been training with my bow and arrow and my dragon for years. I told my mother good-bye, and I left with my leader, Drone.
When the messenger left and was out of sight, Drone and I called our dragons to us by using the dragon symbol on our arm. Every person in our village has a dragon symbol on their arm. They can call their dragons to them, from the island, by activating the dragon symbol on their arm. If a dragon tamer's dragon dies, the symbol disappears.
When our dragons came to us, we flew with them toward Latipac. Flying on my dragon is the most relaxing feeling in the world to me. It feels as if there are no troubles in the world when I am up in the sky, and the scenery is beautiful. We had our dragons drop us off before we reached Latipac and walked the rest of the way. Once they dropped us off, we told them to fly back home. The people of Latipac would have probably killed our dragons and us if we had landed inside their city. Of course we disguised our eyes before entering the city.
When we entered Latipac, a guard greeted us and led us to the king's fortress in the middle of the city and into the meeting room. Of all the leaders there, only three other leaders brought their best warrior. Including me, there was only four warriors there. The king of Latipac, King Learsi, gave us and order to go on a quest to find out where the dragon attacks were coming from and to also go to the capital city of the east side of the island and ask what actions they were taking against the dragon attacks and to help them out. King Learsi was a rather large man with a bold beard and did not look too well kept. I could see that the king had confidence in us as he spoke to us. He included in the message for the other king to trust our word. That being written in his hand would look much better than us verbally trying to convince the other king of who we are and what our task is.
The four of us had great strength and unique skills. I had excellent skills with my bow and could hit any target from far away. Nia was an Ajnin from the village Aneek. She had excellent martial art skills and wielded blade nunchucks with great endurance without cutting herself. She looked very well tone and geared, red hair, and i must say very pretty eyes. Aeros was a Nemdrows from the village Edalb. He had great speed and sword-wielding skills. Aeros was the most intimidating to me just with his glare alone. He also wore a cloth over his mouth and nose, tied at the back of his head. His sword was not like any other i have seen before but a lot more fierce than any other. Eaza was an Arbacapuhc form the village Lamina. She could see the body heat of any being at night and could smell something wounded nearby, and she wielded hand slashers with extreme speed. Her skin was very pale in color, eyes almost as white as the ocean foam, pupils almost too small to see. She had two fangs from her upper set of teeth that were exposed from her lips.

About the Author
My name is Jovanni Torres. I'm just your normal person; outgoing, funny, loves to hangout, have tons of friends and family, however I do have a great desire to be a famous author one day. I am a new author to the world of books and I like to write Fantasy Fiction and Sci-Fi. My books can be targeted toward teens, young adults, to really whatever your preference in books is. A little more about myself, I was born and raised in East Chicago, Indiana, and despite all the influences around me, I strove to be better for myself and my family. Considering where I came from I had always wanted to become something in the world. I started writing in the little "young author's contests" my elementary school held every year. My writing really took off when I was 15 in my Freshman Year of high school at Lake Central in St. John, Indiana. This was the time where I moved from East Chicago to Schererville, Indiana and did not really know too many people. I was a loner in high school due to that fact and also that I use to be very shy, so in my down time I started to just write this little story based on my liking of dragons, made up characters in my head, a world for them to be in, a conflict for them to face, and soon just could not stop writing. Of course after a while I made friends and rebuilt a social life, however I did continue writing because I was proud of my story and what I had created and had always dreamed of getting it published one day. My problem was I did not know how nor did I make the effort to find out. I was always supported by some of my family for my story, and a few friends had read the paper copy and really enjoyed it but it wasn't until 2009 that I got that little extra push from my girlfriend at the time to get my book published, she even went as far as designing the book cover for it. I did my research, found a publishing company, AuthorHouse, submitted my manuscript, and after a few short weeks soon my book was printed and published. My family was proud and most of my friends were cheering me on.
