Paths of Life
Life is an adventure of which we travel.
Winding through the paths, trying to unravel
The secrets to help us along the way
Trying to choose the right steps every day.
Seeking treasures, precious gems to cling to -
Those memories no matter how old that will never leave you.
Yearning to explore, experiencing new things -
Eager to know what tomorrow may bring.
Not every path on the voyage of life is easy.
Storm clouds will roll, pushed by strong breezes.
Which may carry your sails to places unknown
Places you may be fearful of - times that leave you alone.
Trials will come no matter how hard you try
To avoid them; You must learn it's ok to let loose and cry.
You will come to a fork in the road
Where you must choose the high or the low.
At points your destination may seem unclear
But it's at those times you are very near
What in the end will be a diamond in the rough
Only adding to your exploration - only making you tougher.
Climb the mountains though they seem steep
You must work hard for the best in life never falls at your feet.
Don't forget to stop and look
Because these, my friend, will be the stories in life's book.
On the Edge
My feet are slipping from this ledge I’m on
My hands are tired, palms are sweaty, fingers sliding down
My heart is racing, my nerves are surfacing
Beads of perspiration line my face, adrenaline is pumping.
My will is telling me to hold on, to fight
But my heart is ready to let go, soar, fly
Hanging on may only lead up to false hopes
But I know the ending if I will just let go.
I look to the left; I look to the right
There is no sound, not a body in sight
I look up; I look down
This finalizes my fear that I am alone.
I inhale deeply, exhale slowly
With this small move my body starts shaking
Tears start streaming down my face
Tumbling off my chin hitting the ground at a rapid pace
Letting go won’t be easy, but it will be best
No more struggling, my body and soul will finally have rest
I prepare myself for pressing off
From this cliff I am about to fall.
I look up once more, one final prayer
That is when I see you standing there
Reaching for my hand, calling my name
Telling me that it is ok now, I am safe.
My fingers slip, but you grasp my wrists
You use your might to keep us both from plunging to the depths
I close my eyes to listen for your instruction
Within just seconds you save me from destruction.
You put your strong arms around my shaking body
You hold me close, I feel your heart beating.
You shed a tear with a sigh of relief
You squeeze me tight promising to always protect me.
It was a reach of your hand that saved my life
It was that very same day that I saw the light
Love, hope, faith, trust – they really do exist
I owe it all to you for showing me this!

This is, just as it states, a collaboration of inspirational pieces for everyone's soul. This book has been inspired by the personal life of the author herself as well as the observation of the lives of those around her. In this book you will find struggles through trials, joys of family and friendships, strength through hardships, encouragement, love and the brokenhearted as well as so much more!
About the Author
Born and raised in the historic and industrial city of Saginaw, MI, Emily Rose Greenwood has had many passions but found her deepest outlet in writing. Emily comes from a strong Christian background that has stuck with her through the years. Her faith has kept her steady during the storms of her life and her poetry clearly reflects her life and the trials with which she has dealt. She has found that her inspirations have mostly come from people around her, things talked about or heard in conversations, stories, observing existence, broken hearts and the every day twists and turns of life. She has focused on and taken to writing about what matters most in life: love, loyalty, family, personal integrity, trials and triumphs. Anyone who has experienced hardships in their faith, relationships or every day living can find comfort and encouragement in the readings of Emily's own walks through valleys and the source of strength on which she has drawn and used to overcome obstacles and conquer life's rough terrains.
