About the Book

Leon, a six-month old baby, is placed into the care of Enid & Jim Frazer, after his father commits suicide and his mother, subsequently, abandons him.

At the hands of his new “carers”, he emerges, gradually, into a world of self-loathing- the result of physical and emotional torture.

Shortly after his fourteenth birthday, on the verge of being psychologically destroyed, he decides to run – and run he does – into the unknown.

His meeting with Jamie, a seemingly caring and protective role-model, throws him into a life of new, hitherto, unimaginable horrors, of a type that very few will ever experience – or even fully comprehend.

Join Leon on the emotionally traumatic journey of a child struggling to survive a life of beatings and rape in a desperate attempt to find somebody – anybody – who will love and care for him.

About the Author

Leon Henderson is an incredible young man who defied the cruel blows that fate seemed to deal him and emerged as a well-rounded, sensitive, yet strong individual. He is evidence to the fact that the human psyche is stronger than the media often suggests and that, in spite of the cruel actions and the twisted minds of others, good CAN prevail over evil.

From his inauspicious start in life and through the often dangerous and traumatic journey to reach adulthood, he and “his other self” refused to be beaten. He is a role model for those who feel that there is no way out of the situation/environment into which they have been born. There is an inner goodness in the human race and Leon refused to surrender that ideal, in spite of the many periods of self-doubt and self-loathing.

Now, he has reached a stage of peace and contentment with himself and with others and still lives out his dreams – in spite of the scepticism of others. He KNOWS that dreams are only reality waiting to happen – for those who believe and are willing to take the risk of trying to fulfill them. He wants to use this book to inspire others to do the same.

He has refused to allow his experiences to make him bitter, as, sadly, so many others are tempted to do. Instead, he will fight hard against going down that road and encourages others to believe in themselves.

Leon now lives in Brighton with his partner with whom he has created the real home, for which he longed, as a child. Having studied Drama, he graduated from college and now runs local drama classes in the evening. He is a father, a foster-carer, a children's care worker and so much more – he is a complete person.
