At 2 am he got out of bed and, still in his pyjamas, walked across the floor and opened his bedroom window. He climbed, gingerly, onto the window ledge still unsure if he could do it. For a moment or two, Albert just sat there directly on the line between inside and out, studying the twelve foot drop to the ground below that would surely break both his legs if he fell.
Carefully and slowly he turned around on the ledge and lowered himself outside so he was hanging precariously from the window sill with his fingertips. He closed his eyes and concentrated as his body weight strained his arms to the very limit. Suddenly, a relaxation in his arm muscles proved that he could do it. Albert let go of the window sill and floated effortlessly just outside his bedroom window. ‘I knew I could do it’, he told himself. ‘I just knew.’
