A Prayer To Share………
In the space of my heart I cry for help. In the ocean of my life I wish for somebody to see me. I wake up every morning and hear the birds singing, and I am glad to hear them sing. But do they know that someone is hearing them singing? I walk across the street and I put on my daily mask; a smile, and the older I get the more tired I become of pretending. Then I ask myself; “who will hear me if I shout for help? Who will rush to my rescue if they hear that I am trapped behind this closed door?; the closed door of my secrets; the closed door of my past; the closed door of my failures and the closed door of my mistakes. Who will rescue me? I look around me, and I see everyone occupied with their own matters. The bus driver busy driving his bus; the woman in the cafeteria busy making her coffee; the boss at work using his time only for business, and there is nobody to ask me how I am doing. I run to hide myself behind the closed door and cry myself to sleep. I am scared to shut my eyes because I don’t want to have the same nightmares that I have every night, again I can’t keep my eyes open because I’m afraid of the dark. My friends don’t respond, my family is on vacation, and no one ever calls to check on me. I run back home; home sweet home. I remove my mask and weep bitterly, and there is no one to hear me. Only my mirror knows my real face. Everybody calls me better, but my name is bitter. Everybody calls me “Strong,” but my name is “Broken.” I hide behind the closed door hoping for somebody to rescue and yet it is as if nobody cares. I shout for help and nobody hears me. I stay by the phone, expecting to hear a call from somebody; somebody who at least cares, and yet nobody calls. With no second thought, I get whatever I see and take away my own life; suicide. So if anybody looks for me, please tell them that I lie behind the closed door. I live in a WORLD that does not feel like home, will anybody take me where I belong?

At the age of nineteen Patrick K Lombule found himself in surgery at a local hospital in Norway. The emergency appendectomy was a frightening experience and he was terrified that he wouldn't see his family again. When Patrick awoke after his operation, one thought preoccupied him: that whilst he had been lucky enough to recover, on that very day other patients had not been as fortunate and died at the hospital. Struck for the first time by profound awareness of his own mortality and the cruel, fleeting nature of life, Patrick was overwhelmed with a fervent desire to cherish the family from whom he had so nearly been taken, and to live every day of the rest of his life to the fullest.

About the Author
Patrick K Lombule was born in 1989 in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa. His family moved to Zambia when he was seven, before finally settling in Norway. Having grown in Africa, Lombule watched as many of his peers struggled through childhood and adolescence, quickly becoming distant with education and losing their way. With strong hope and determination, Patrick made it his goal in life to help revive the hopes and dreams of this present generation to create a better world for the coming generations.
