About the Book
What’s a student teacher? The first-grade students in Mrs. Rice’s room are a little worried about what that means. What will happen to Mrs. Rice if someone else comes to teach? Why do they need a student teacher? Any teacher who is willing to open up his or her classroom to a student teacher would benefit from reading this book to their students as an introduction to the student teacher. Younger children may not understand what a student teacher is, and as a result may have some concerns about changes in their familiar school routine. This read-aloud book will help familiarize the children with the student teacher process and alleviate their apprehension.
About the Author
Julia is a Speech-Language Pathologist currently working in the Lee’s Summit, Missouri School District. Working with students and teachers for close to 25 years Julia has had many opportunities to observe situations in the school setting where students benefit from simple topic introductions. She has worked with children who exhibit fears or stress related to change in routines or personnel. Giving them information and reassurance well in advance of these changes helps keep the classroom running smoothly. Julia enjoys writing short stories so writing a children's book that takes place in the school setting seemed a natural combination. She lives in Lee's Summit, MO with her husband, Chip, and children, Erin and Chad.
