About the Author
Julie Smith has been a kindergarten teacher at Kuser Elementary School for the past two years. Her lifelong dream was to be a teacher and an author. She has written and published two other children’s books. Standing for The Red, White and Blue and September 11th, 2006. I Have a Dream. She lives in Medford, NJ with her family. She has always been intrigued with history. During her first year at Kuser Elementary School, she had an instant love of the 100 year old building, the rich history, staff, children and parents. A very special thank you goes to her family and closest friends, who have always believed in her. She is most appreciative for her husband and her "Auntie Carole". They have always encouraged her to use the "Magic Pencil" leading her anywhere that she wanted to go.
About the Illustrator
Stephanie Horan has taught visual art for ten years in Hamilton Township schools. She currently lives in Lawrence, NJ. She is excited about the publication of her first book and hopes to continue illustrating children’s books. Her goal is to share her experiences and creative process with her students and motivate them to excel in the world of art. Creating artwork for others has always been an enjoyment of hers. She credits her elementary and secondary art teachers for leading her to such a fulfilling career and hobby. She graciously thanks her family and friends for their continued support and encouragement.
