About the Book

For those who prefer traditional rhyming poetry to 'blank' or 'free verse', this collection: The Shamrock & the Rose, should be of particular appeal.  In this book I have tried to express in poetry many of my life experiences and impressions of the world about me, ranging from a nostalgic longing for a time long vanished, to that often sobering awareness that comes with growing older: Life is not always shamrocks and roses.

About the Author

Born in New York City, the writer was raised in Ireland from the time he was seven until returning to the U.S. at age 24.  Now retired from the USPS, he resides in N.J.  Always an avid writer, he published his first short fiction while still in his teens.  His writing has appeared in Reader's Digest, Modern Maturity, Sky & Telescope (NightSky magazine) and in Irish publications, one to which he still contributes.  However, it is in poetry that he finds his favorite medium of expression, and is the winner of numerous awards in that category.
