The day goes on as usual, nothing eventful, not even one new claim to file. So Neina asks. “If there isn't anything for me to do this afternoon, can I take off? I could use a little time to catch up on some house cleaning.”
“Sure.” Frank says. “You deserve it.”
He didn't really think that she was going to go home and clean, but, she's earned it. Especially after the Smith farm claim. That one took a lot of paper work. It took her a while.
Frank's left alone in the office. He clocked Neina out at about 1:48. Not that he's keeping a record, Neina gets a salary. So it really doesn't matter how long she's there, as long as all the work gets done.
At 2 o'clock, there's a quick flash. Like a flash from a camera, but not blue. It was yellow, kind of like sun light. At first, Frank just thought that it was a car going by, giving off a reflection. But at the same time, the power went out. “OK.” Frank says to himself. “What happened?”

About the Author
Richard is a first time author, and a long time fan of Sci-fi, with a very different way of looking at things. He likes to explore the posibilitys of what could be, and how it would be, if things were different. He likes to keep it realistic though, like it's something that can really be, but still venturing off in the world of Sci-Fi.
