"You know what's happened, don't you Cynthia?" as he moves closer and whispers into her ear.
Wanting to say no, but knowing that would be a lie, "I don't know what you mean."
"I believe you do. Tell me honestly that you are totally unaware of this overwhelming feeling I have for you. That I've fallen in love with you."
"That's absurb" hoping her business tone sounds sincere, yet makes no effort to move her hand from under his, "we hardly know each other."
"How long do you need to know someone to know how you feel - hours, weeks, years? Time doesn't define feelings and love never makes sense. It's what you feel. If you can honestly say feelings don't matter, then tell me I'm wrong. If your only measurement of feelings is based on a timeframe, convince me how that works then honestly tell me you don't feel love for me too?"
With her hand still placed under his, "Rusty you ask the question because you know I can't answer it." Removing her hand from the phone forcing his hand away and turning to look into his cat-like light brown eyes, "and because you already know the answer."
"No Cynthia, I don't know the answer. I need you to tell me."

About the Author
Carole Fleming Johnson was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She began her career during the early '60's on the Woman's Page of The New York Times; her corporate career included Certified Career Counselor, Organizational Development/Training Specialist, Vice President of Human Resources for a major organization, OD Consultant and Motivational Speaker. Now retired and living in North Carolina with husband Norman, she is devoting her time to volunteer work and writing - fulfilling a promise she made to herself to become an author.
