Now he was left with faith. Was he to have faith in God? Was he to have faith in himself? Was he to have faith in both? It was all he had left, a question of faith. He knew in his heart that there was no answer. He was left to tremble with uncertainty. So what was faith to himself or faith to God? Or what was faith to both? Was it an emotional comfort that he had to have or could he exist in the pool of uncertainty? Was it true that a meaningless world was too much to bare? Down on his knees, defeated by overwhelming indecision there was no answer. Silence, there was no God to speak to him. If there was a God he asked for faith. A faith that asked only John to communicate with God. Or, it was a faith that asked him to believe in himself.
