Closing the door behind him, Evan went straight up the stairs to the guest bedroom. He wanted complete privacy when he opened the letter and the window overlooking the street would also allow him to watch for anything unusual. Even though he did not know what was inside just yet, he knew he would have to hide it from Allie. He ripped the envelope open and found a one dollar bill inside. Scanning the bill, he discovered a red “X” drawn over George Washington’s mouth. Flipping over the dollar, he noticed that the Great Seal was outlined in red marker. Every fiber of Evan’s body stiffened. Translating the Latin “Novus Ordo Seclorum” into the English New Order of the Ages, Evan knew the message was from ‘The Shadows’ and the Eye of Providence floating at the top of the pyramid meant that they were watching him.

About the Author
Christopher French lives in Norfolk, Virginia where he is a Police Sergeant and has been with the Norfolk Airport Police Department for ten years. He also serves as the Head Defensive Tactics Instructor, Assistant Head Firearms Instructor, and the Tactical Response Unit Team Leader. Prior to his Law Enforcement career Chris served in the United States Coast Guard as an Operation Specialist, being stationed in Hawaii. He graduated from Old Dominion Univesity (1998) with a B.S. (Cum Laude) in Criminal Justice and Psychology. In his free time, Chris enjoys running, surfing, and being a father to his daughter Madelyn.
