Vinny & Bud

About the Book

Vinny & Bud is a story mostly about friendship. Bud, who is 10 years old and his 28 year old Mom, recently divorced, move to a new town for a fresh start. The halarious adventures begin when Bud meets Vinny and they become friends. Vinny lives with his older brother, Bill, aged 16, and his grandpa, a veteran of WWII who not only is senile, but prone to flashbacks from the war.

A lot of Vince's experiences growing up have been used in this book as well as the day to day experiences of the youth of today which keeps the humour fresh and hip. Vinny and Bud go from adventure to adventure on their skateboards and the fun never stops.

About the Author

Vince Thompson was born in Welland, Ontario and at the age of 7 moved with his mother to the blue collar district of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Since he was about 3 years old, Vince has had a passion for drawing and doodling. A collector of comic books, some of Vince's major influences have been Archie Comics, Peanuts and Calvin & Hobbs. A self taught artist, Vince has always written and illustrated his books. Most of his writing and illustrations were done at the Library and a local tattoo shop in Niagara Falls. He was taught many techniques from the tattooist friends he made over the years and thus the reason his drawings start out looking like a peanuts strip and progresses to a 3-D and more defined strip as it goes on. He has painted murals for schools and business in the Niagara area. In 2004, Vince came up with an idea for a storyline and Vinny & Bud were born. Most of the characters are based on people from the area where Vince lives and with whom he has had contact over the years.
