At the beginning, most people believed that Oskar Schindler, who saved the lives of 1085 Jewish slave laborers; Tom Keneally, who wrote the book entitled Schindler’s List; and Steven Spielberg, who created the blockbuster film bearing the same title, appeared to be the sole individuals responsible for bringing to the world the true story of Oskar Schindler and his list of Jewish prisoners whom he saved from being sent to the Nazi extermination camps. The three definitely had key roles in the eventual story reaching millions of readers and theater-goers around the world, but the man, as briefly mentioned earlier, who was the most important one of all in getting the Schindler story into the hands of Tom Keneally and ultimately into the hands of Steven Spielberg, was No. 173 on Schindler’s list, Poldek Leopold Pfefferberg. The story of Leopold (Leo) Page and his experiences as Oskar Schindler’s messenger boy/ right-hand man, became the focus of this book entitled Leopold And Oskar: Page - No. 173 Of Schindler’s List.

LEOPOLD AND OSKAR: Page-No. 173 Of Schindler’s List is a book written about a hero in his own right who was mainly responsible for the world-wide huge success enjoyed by the author, Thomas Keneally, and the movie producer, Steven Spielberg, for their respective roles in bringing the book and movie, Schindler’s List, to the attention of millions of readers and theater goers. That man went by the name of Leopold Poldek Pfefferberg, later known as Leo Page, a member of Schindler’s List, who badgered both Keneally and Spielberg until they finally relented and went to work on writing the book (Keneally) and then putting it on film (Spielberg). The story is all about Leopold and his adventures that involved his close relationship with Oskar whom he promised to immortalize for saving close to 1100 Jews, Leopold and his wife, Mila, having been among them.
