About the Book

Amari Williams has lived a very privileged life during her seventeen and a half years on the Earth. Her parents bought her any and everything that she asked for. She wore the latest, hottest clothes and her boyfriend Sean is in college trying to make his dreams of becoming an NBA star a reality.

It isn’t until the day of Amari’s high school graduation that her world turns upside down; she discovers that she is pregnant. Scared to tell her parents she confides in her step-mother who keeps threatening to go to her father if she doesn’t come clean. To make matters worse, Amari learns that Sean has not been faithful to her while he was away at school. That discovery makes Amari question her future with Sean.

While on vacation in Las Vegas, Amari meets Tony who is from her hometown. She thinks that he is everything that Sean isn’t and tries to picture what a life with Tony would be like. She soon discovers the grass is not always greener on the other side, but the decisions she has made are not going to make the road easy for her.

About the Author

Makesha Brown was born and raised on Chicago’s Westside. In utero, her mother would read to her, which is what she believes led to her fascination with the spoken word. She also read to her as she became older and she would even change her voice to impersonate the characters. When Makesha became a teenager, her interest for writing short stories and poetry increased. The characters for her many stories would come alive in her head before she even began putting it on paper. It was not until 2008 when Makesha decided to pursue a career in something that she was passionate about, writing.

Makesha graduated from Northwestern College in Bridgeview, IL and currently resides in Chicago with her husband and son. She is in the process of completing another novel.
