"Didn't I tell you to wait for me when the dismissal rung! Damn you can be such an idiot sometimes! You never listen! You think I like yelling at you like this? Huh, you think I like having to talk to you like a child? I don't like it at all Alexis!"
"Jake please,” I said struggling, “let go you're hurting my arm."
It was my fault. Before we got to school Jake told me to wait in the corridors for him and he would walk me to my first after school dance practice. I was so excited that when the bell rang, I forgot all about waiting for him. Christi Collins, one of the leads on the dance squad, also happened to be in my last class, biology. We sat next to each other and we were both so eager to get to practice that as soon as the bell rang we practically ran to the gym. We changed our clothes in the locker room and had a few laughs with the girls on the dance team, cheerleading squad, and the volleyball team. It was time to make our way to the practice football field for dance practice and I couldn't hide my excitement.
We exited the locker room as a big group when I heard a loud roar bellow out my name. I stopped dead in my tracks. I didn't bother turning around because as my heart dropped from the sound of my name called in anger, I knew exactly who it was. Our early morning conversation flashed so quickly in my head. Christi stopped with me, the look on my face showed my fear. The other girls glanced back but for the most part continued walking and laughing. Christi took my hand and whispered that she would wait as long as I needed her to. I never told anyone about the aggression problem I felt I had with Jake but a few of my peers noticed.
Jake caught up to us and reached straight out and clasped his hand tightly around the back of my neck.
Christi knew my eyes were telling her that if she waited with me, she’d just make it worst.
She sighed as if she didn't want to leave me.
"I'll tell coach you forgot your flags in the locker room,” she said
Christi looked back once and then ran to catch up with the others.
"I'm sorry!"
I practically screamed. Jake spun me around, never loosening the grip he had on my neck.
"So you know what you should be sorry about?"
The anger in his eyes pierced a hole through mine. I broke eye contact, which was something Jake hated for me to do.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you damn it!"

About the Book
Alexis Kinkay isn't like most of the girls at her high school. She doesn't wear make-up, hasn't developed her womanly curves yet, and is rarely noticed by the guys. She sees herself as the high school outcast. When handsome transfer student Jake arrives he is mesmerized by Alexis and determined to have her. Jake is instantly well liked by the popular crowd and with his help, Alexis is introduced to a world of love, popularity, and parties. She begins to have everything she has ever wanted, or so she thought. When her new found popularity becomes too much for Jake to handle and his demands create too much strain on her, Alexis decides that she must Break Free. But Jake has other plans. He is determined to teach Alexis that freedom comes at a big price.
About the Author
My name is Yania White. I'm 23-years-old and I have always had a passion for writing. I have been writing stories, musical lyrics, poems, and plays for as long as I can remember. I'm blessed with an over active imagination and the talent to capture my thoughts into words. I am currently in college working on my B.A. degree in the study of Mass Communications. I have also earned my B.A. degree in the area of Communications. My writing careers started as a young child when I began writing songs and music. As years past my love for writing has grown. I have poems published in the Internation book of Poetry. I have completed a full length play that will soon be in the process of production. I wrote this novel as an inspiration for people who may have experienced similar events as the characters in this novel. Although this novel is completely fiction, the emotions and thought processes were written based on real life events. My goal is to reach out to those who may have been affected and let them know that they are not alone.
