The magic of Elie is about a young boy born blind, and how he overcomes his blindness to achieve and take part in the school talent show. First Establishments were asked to put together seven wonderful collection books for ages 4-11.  The books have been written and designed  on behalf of Make a difference at Sandy’s, to promote the service and to encourage all children to understand childhood illnesses and disabilities.  The books are designed to motivate and teach positive aspects of disability, and promote awareness and knowledge.

About the Author

Nicole Hamil was born in Hammersmith, London in1982.  In 1991 the family moved to Romford, Essex where Nicole attended her secondary educational years.

Nicole was diagnosed with having Sickle Cell anaemia also none as (SS) at the age of 4, when she suffered the experience of her first Sickle cell crisis.

Nicole has always made the most of life, by not letting her illness affect any of her ambitions.

In 2003 Nicole gave birth to her first child, who was also diagnosed with the genetic sickle cell disorder.  Nicole says she has written seven books, on childhood disability to inspire parents and children.  She is aware some individuals may feel separated from society and she would like them all to know that they are not alone.
