About the Book

You probably and understandably would be left perplexed and wondering: what’ is in it for me?

Well

The message is a universal one imparting scholarly findings in relation to the role of leaders, followers and organizational goals in the context of “company politics” or "office politics"

In fact, despite the evident privileges that some organizational members seem to enjoy to the detriment of others, scholarly dissection of formal authority and organizational politics remains embryonic.

Therefore, superiors and subordinates alike take advantage of this state of ambiguity in organizational life to achieve both myopic and organizational goals.

Since organizational values, rules, and regulations failed to address all aspect of organizational life, politics become the recognized but unofficial surrogate.

Two situations, leading to different and opposite outcomes, provided by the journey of a combat support hospital deployed to Iraq will serve as illustrations to capture a wider spectrum of disparities.

The resulting observations generalized and applied to all types of organizational firms broaden the implications of the findings.

It is safe to assert that most organizations provide standard operation procedures, guidelines, and values necessary for their workforce to carry out their duty.

Unfortunately, models of leader development or philosophical theories do not preclude employees from using political maneuvers.

Luckily, some factors almost predict organizational members’ attachment to a team, a unit, or an organization as a whole- investment, alternatives, trust and efficacy.

To better face group dynamics in the modern workplace, impeccable knack and pragmatic tack are quintessential. Let us, together, embark in an adventure to discover some of them.

About the Author

The author was born and brought up in Port-au-Prince on 1974. He lived till he turned 25 in many of the communities built without respect for construction rules and regulations in Port-au-Prince and around the country. He is very proud of his Haitian descent and never failed to let it be known despite all the negative publicity. As a child, he spend a lot of time flying kites, doing flips and other acrobatic twists in public parks, playing  marbles in dirt and unprotected street soccer. Time flew by and tradition vanished. Haitian kids nowadays do not really have a variety of recreational choices. The annual Carnival, Good Friday, summer and Christmas times use to bring him so much pleasure that he is currently enjoying some of those memories. The national television programming kept him fixated in front of the television set for hours on week-ends because electric interruption never occurred back then. Today, the state run electric company is more like the “blackout agency”. Small wonder so many kids hang out around the state parks that surround the national palace in quest of a little bit of light. We do not have the “leisure” time to think about their development and future. They smoke, drink, and kill. What happened to concerned citizens and community parenting? We are understandably striving for our own daily survival and the vicious circle will ultimately lead to self-destruction.

I am sad!
