“Grifter, if we get attacked follow my lead.” She explained through her comm goggles. “I have a plan.”
“Roger that.” The bounty hunter responded.
It did not take long for the survivors of the assault team to catch up to the two vehicles. After all the assault teams were using high-speed helicopters to catch up to the group. Sabrina could tell by the way that these vehicles were using their guns that they were trying to capture and not kill the group.
She kicked open the van door and fired a burst from her rifle at the craft. She could hear the distinctive sound of ricocheting bullets. She knew that she would require a different method to take these vehicles out. Their armor was too good and she did not have the heavier firepower of her Valkyrie armor.
She hoped that Grifter would follow her lead. He was the only other person that she thought could copy what she was about to do.
She dropped her rifle and leapt out of the back of the van. Her jump was quite impressive as she closed the distance between the van and the low flying helicopter. She caught the landing rail and swung herself upwards to the door gunner’s position.
She tossed him out of the gun well and onto the hard concrete below before he even realized that this crazy woman had in fact made a nearly impossible jump.
She drew and fired her plasma pistol with her left hand killing the other gunner instantly. As a continuation of the same move she delivered a devastating spinning kick to the head of the helicopter’s pilot. She smiled slightly as she heard the distinctive sound of shattering bones and a cracking helmet.
Sabrina pulled the dead pilot from the console and went to grab the controls.
That was when she discovered a slight flaw in her plan. This chopper was equipped for “Neural Interface” only. There were no manual controls. She had gotten used to Cheyanne’s vehicles, which had both controls. There was no way she was going to be able to land this thing.
She let loose with a creative string of Altairian swear words as she leapt from the doomed helicopter.
Grifter swore openly when he saw Sabrina’s hair-brained leap onto a moving helicopter. He swore mainly because he was going to have to try the same hair-brained jump. He could not let Sabrina out perform him this badly.
He jumped onto the roof of the sedan and leapt from the car to the helicopter’s railing. He caught the rail with his left hand and fired the gun in his right hand straight up and into the chin of the surprised door gunner.
Grifter hooked his leg onto the railing and swung himself into the chopper. He fired a single shot at the second door gunner, killing him instantly.
He rolled into to the center of the floor and fired his double shot at the surprised pilot. The pilot fell limply from the helicopter. One tended to when you suddenly had two large caliber holes in your head.
Grifter went for the controls only to make the same realization that Sabrina had. The chopper was ‘Neural Interface Only’.
“Ah son of a...” was all he could say as he leapt from a doomed helicopter.
Cheyanne saw the dual explosions of the helicopters in her rear view mirror. “Sabrina?!” She shouted with an edge of panic in her voice.
