About the Book

Lily is a 12 year old girl who hears the voice of the Hebrew Goddess.  Shekhinah calls to her from her exile in the Labyrinth of Time, where the hot summer sun shines upon winding rows of golden wheat grain.  Trapped there by all the evil in the world called klipot, in the form of black hairy creatures with sharp claws, Shekhinah waits for a heroine to set her free and return her to human consciousness.

Based on Kabbalistic mythology and modern Witchcraft, Lily travels through other dimensions that correspond to the cycles of the earth and the four seasons, gathering wisdom and spirit guides along the way.

In between her otherworldly travels, Lily deals with family issues that can only be resolved through understanding and acceptance.

In the end, Lily stands on the bimah of her synagogue at her Bat Mitzvah and faces the congregation with courage and a brave heart.

About the Author

I am a new writer from Staten Island, NY, where I live with my husband and eight cats.  For the past several years I have been reading, taking classes, and studying spiritual matters.  I have also spent seven years in a Wiccan coven.  Currently, I am a member of a Reformed Jewish synagogue called The Shul of New York, where I study Torah with Rabbi Burt Siegel.  These different experiences have led me to view the world in a way I never did before.

The idea for this story began when my daughter became engaged and I started thinking about my future grandchildren.  I thought that by writing a story that incorporated all I learned, they would understand their grandmother better.  Whether they follow my path, or forge their own, I hope that my story will encourage them to live their lives with courage and a brave heart.

About the Illustrator

My love of illustration began when I was a child, when my best friend, Blima's daughter Andrea, and I would sit together for hours and draw pictures of made-up people.  Though I did not pursue art as my profession, I still consider drawing to be one of my favorite hobbies.  I am currently pursuing a career in massage therapy, and I look forward to working with Blima on future creative works
