My name is Landon. One day I went to my Uncle Matt and Aunt Sarah's house to play with my cousin. Her name is Brooklyn and Brooklyn has a brand new puppy.
My mom said, "A puppy is a lot of work. Having a pet does not only mean that you get to play with them, but they are a lot of responsibility, too.
You must feed puppies and make sure they have plenty of water. They can not get their own food and water so they rely on us to take care of them." The next day mom said, "Your Dad and I talked about it and think that we should give you a chore. If you can be responsible enough to do your chore every day for a month, without having to be reminded, then we will let you have a puppy.”
So, my Mom and Dad gave me the chore of setting the table before meals, and clearing and cleaning the table after every meal.
This went on for about two weeks. Then one day my friend Meagan asked me to go camping for the weekend with her and her parents.
I hadn't thought about doing things like this. Maybe I don't want a puppy after all, if I can't do things with my friends and family.
So, I had to think about this some more. Do I really want to go camping for the weekend or get the puppy? Which one do I want more? My mom and dad said they were so proud of me. I proved I could be responsible for the puppy by sticking to my chore.
Thank you, mom and dad for believing in me. I love you both so much.

About the Book
This is a teaching book. It could be used by parents, grandparents, big sisters, big brothers, aunts, uncles and teachers.
Landon is my grandson. He was asking for a puppy. He comes home after visting his cousin, Brooklyn, who had just gotten a new puppy and tells his mom he wants a puppy.
Landon's mom explains to him that she must talk to his dad about getting a puppy and she will talk to Landon more about this tomorrow.
The next day Landon asked his mom if she had spoken to his dad about getting the puppy. She told him they had discussed it and believed they'd come up with a solution - a way to prove that he could be responsible for a puppy. They are going to give him a household chore for one month. If he can handle that chore without interruption or distraction, then he may have his puppy.
This made Landon very happy.
However, Landon is challenged by some of his other family members that want him to go on a camping trip with them for a weekend.
Will he go camping or will he get his puppy?
About the Author
My name is JoAnna. I have seven children. Four natural born and three step children. I also have three beautiful grandchildren.
Two years ago I lost a grandchild to SIDS.
Last year I found out that I had a very rare autoimmune disease that will lead to many other autoimmune diseases.
I have always wanted to be a writer. In fact I have written over fifty poems over the years about my life and my children's lives. So I thought, what a wonderful gift I could write childrens books pertaining to my children and my grandchildren.
This would be something they would always have to remember me with and along the way I would be helping other children and their families. By telling stories that they may be going through and see that they are not the only ones that have ever had to face these issues.
I can tell you, with 7 children a three grandchildren, I have just about seen and heard it all.
So, in conclusion I hope that my story books will help parents show and tell their children that they are not the only ones that have to deal with the good and sometimes very bad things life has to throw at them.
My writers name will always be JoJo or Ms. JoJo. I will publish wih AuthorHouse but other publishers as well.
