THE ADVENTURES OF MARSHAL GABBY TUCKER VOLUME ONE: “FAMILY TIES IN THE WEST” One day, Lefty was doing the same thing he had done for weeks, still thinking he was alone, and went out to practice his draw, when the one thing he never would have expected happened; two men were hiding in the woods and brush waiting on him to show up, and he did! They watched his every move carefully. You know they saw his gun and saw him draw, but they never once saw him shoot the thing, so the men decided to pay Lefty an uninvited visit. They snuck up on him; one went around behind him and one in front. The one in front of him said, "Hello in the camp." Startled, Jonathan said, "Yea, come on in", as he backed up. The huge, unkept, unbathed man walked up to Jonathan and said, "Where's the fire and the coffee at boy?" Jonathan said, "Hain't got no coffee mister, just trying to learn how to draw a gun mister, look it don't even shoot." Then the big man took the gun out of the boy's hand and threw it down, then the other man stepped out from behind the tree that Jonathan had backed up to, grabbed the boy, took his gun belt off and said, "You won't be needing this anymore boy," then the men laughed a sinister laugh which just scared the mess out of Jonathan. The man behind the tree picked Jonathan up, holding him under his arm as if he was as light as a sack of potatoes. Then the man who had taken Jonathan's holster, named Pete, looked at the huge man and said, "George, I think he'll do fine, what do you think?"George said, "You know Pete, I think you're right." Jonathan quickly saw that he was in deep trouble and said, "You better let me go, I'm a Tucker!" The men just laughed as they slapped the boy around and then they proceeded to tie his hands together. Then Pete pulled out the biggest knife that Jonathan had ever seen and put it to his face and said, " You ain't gonna give us no trouble is you boy?" In this "Western" novel about the Tucker family, their youngest son, "Lefty" had been kidnapped along with three Indian children by two really mean and greedy men who intended on selling them. Lefty was the youngest son of Marshal Gabby Tucker and his wife Maggie. The Tucker family actually consisted of six separate Tucker families, and they each also had boys, so there was no chance of their family name every dying out. The Tucker families join forces with the Indians in an effort to find their missing children. All of the Tucker women join in the search for Lefty also, and are as good with guns as their men and fight by their sides when needed. One of the Tucker women is a doctor and tends to all of the wounded with the help of some Indian squaws and two other Tucker women. The Indians called her "Doctor Jo"; her name was Jo Ann. All concerned thought that she was an incredible doctor. Two of the Tucker women, who were mountain women from Tennessee went out looking for their husbands alone because they were lonely and feared the worst. They could rough the outdoors and terrain because of their "Tom Boyish" style. They loved their flat land men, and wanted to see them alive. The story shows love, compassion, and desperation, but on the flip side of that it also encompasses fighting, shooting, torturing, and killing too. There are so many side scenes along the way through this book; you'll find yourself laughing and then just minutes later you are brought to tears. This is an incredibly great book; you won't be able to put it down!

Jeff, as I see him from a wife's perspective, and ever since I have met him, which was 21 years ago, is what I call a "Storyteller.” He has always been able to captivate people's attention when talking to them and even gathers crowds because of the "way" he tells a story or talks about an event! He makes you feel as though you were actually there when you hear him tell it! He includes a lot of "He said,” "She said," type of talking in his explanations and it certainly keeps you captivated.
I have always worked with literary and journalism works in the past. I always worked with the school newspaper and yearbook staff and also wrote articles for each school paper.
Jeff and I spent a lot of time out West in the past and have had many opportunities to visit historic places and to learn about the Indians out that way and about the mountain ranges and rivers.
Currently, Jeff writes Westerns because he is an 'ole cowboy at heart and we love watching Western movies and writing the "Western" type of books, but he does have plans of a Pirate book in the near future, so stay tuned!
I, as his wife now help him in the book writing and paperwork that men hate.
