About the Book

The Hooky Cop revisits Two Rivers.  A workaholic, demanding math teacher returns to school after the summer recess.  He has an ugly confrontation with a gifted delinquent student.  The result is near disaster for both.

About the Author

James B. Gabrielson worked as a bank teller, as an in-flight and ground radio operator in the Naval Reserve during WWII, and as a construction worker after the war.  He earned  his  teaching credential at U. S .C. and found his niche in the Montebello Unified School District.  Much of his professional career was devoted to helping students get into and stay in school and graduate.  He was variously known as The Truant Officer, Hooky Cop, Mr. Gabe, or sometimes facetiously as Fearless Fosdick but on occasion names he preferred to forget.  To his friends he is known as James, Jim, or J.B.  His first book, THE HOOKY COP, published by Hewitt House, dealt with students he worked with. They ranged in age from kindergartners to seniors in high school and those attending alternative schools. Though serving in various administrative positions, he always preferred working with students.
