About the Book

When a young squirrel named Shadow Tail moves to a new forest with his family, his new friends invite him to come to the “People Place,” where the humans live.  Wanting to fit in, he joins them for some mischief-making, but he soon learns an important lesson about peer pressure.

About the Author

Cheri Daniels is the first lady of the state of Indiana, and her co-author and best friend is Carol Nicewander, a former teacher.

Mrs. Daniels supports the “I love to read” program and other efforts to encourage education and literacy. She says, “I have always loved reading, and I used to read to my girls when they were growing up. I can’t think of a more appropriate way to encourage children to read.”
