I Dream of Martha
I see her laying there on a gurney
Quite still in a hospital gown
Is she dead? I fear.
I run to her, plead with her
Her large brown eyes open
She smiles, we embrace
Excitedly she tells me
I'm going to have a baby!
It's my second, a boy
Two boys I now have
How happy we are together
After the delivery
She checks out of the hospital
I see a person behind a gate
A tall amiable man
I have to go now she whispers
Gently, she holds my hands
But, we shall meet at a later date.

Love me everyday
Love me
I see no other way
Give me
All you have to bare
Give me
And I will never share
More for me
And I will never say
That I pretended to care.
To tell their stories
The characters in my life are all gone
I'm dieing to tell their story
Am I that bold?
I write my first poem
The relief the rush unknown
To the characters I have buried
I want to wake them up make them see
The surge, how it unfolded for me
But, to my misery they are not listening
They are gone, they are buried
Only me left to tell their story.

About the Book
This book tells a story through poetry about children who were sexually and physically abused by their parents. The poetry tells of the negative experiences the children faced and how they struggled with the trauma and destructive behaviors inflicted upon them by their parents all the way into adulthood. The characteristics of the parents' personalities and inappropriate deviant behaviors are also depicted in poetry.
About the Author
I have worked as an L.P.N. and R.N. and have close to 20 years of experience in the health care fields. I have seen much human suffering as well as happiness and joy from recovery. Upon awaking to my own realization of being a sexual abuse survivor from incest, I looked for ways to help me cope with the emotional baggage I carried. Expressing my thoughts and feelings in poetry has always been a healing experience for me. This book is intended for those who have suffered a traumatic childhood and can relate to some of my families personal experiences.
