"Young lady, why are you so sad? Look all around you! You have all these big beautiful, red, yellow, green and pink apples to eat. Apples! Apples growing everywhere! Why must you cry and fuss with all of these apples? You do know, don't you, that you have many, many different apples to choose from and eat, don't you?" asked Mr. Worm. "I do believe it's 7500 different kinds, I do!" he added. "An apple is not only good food to eat; an apple is good for you to eat, too. Some animals eat them all the time, even after they fall from the trees. Some, as you can see; reach up to the apple; or pull down a branch or limb; or bend down themselves, to eat the fruits, Arlene" said Mr. Worm. "Did you hear a noise, Mr. Worm? asked Arlene, turning to see who or what was coming their way. "Oh! Andre, what should I do? Which apple should I eat, first?" asked Arlene. "Our brains, like our bodies, need food to grown and make it work better. Apples are good food to eat because of what's inside of them. "the apple is full of vitamins, minerals and other good things for our bodies. You can even eat the apple skin, or peel, as it's often called" said Andre.

About the Author
Born and raised in rural Maryland, Sandra grew up among teachers and educators. With facts, fiction and fantasy being part of her education, each has played an integral role in her writings. Beginning her career as a telephone operator in Washington, D.C., she went on to work for the Board of Education with the Stay In/Do Not Drop Out program in the local high school. Her last career move was the first Correctional Officer hired in Calvert County, MD., with duties including protection, control and security.
