About the Book

This collection of poems is dedicated to all those who have been abused and exploited at the hands of others, and to those who love them and want to see them healed.

There are many types of abuse, and exploitation. Some are abused and exploited as children and teens, and others are exploited as adults. Those who are abused and exploited as children often fall into patterns of linking up with other abusers in their adult lives.

The unseen scars can be far more devastating than wounds we can see. The wounds of the heart are often the most difficult to heal, and may require “heart surgery”.

The Lord Jesus is the healer, and the wounds and scars of abuse, only He can truly heal.

I pray that as you read these poems, they will touch your heart and give you hope. These poems were given to me as a part of my own healing journey, and it is my deepest desire that they would become a part of your own healing as well. Jesus Christ is the only one who will never leave you or forsake you. The book of Romans, chapter 8 says that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. As you read these poems, I pray you will come to a realization of the depth of His love. He loves you. He really, really does.

About the Author

Myra Grace resides with her beloved husband and their pets, Buddy and Busy in rural northern Illinois.

Born, and raised in northern Illinois in the early 1950s and growing up through the 50s and the turbulent 60s, she was the victim of sexual abuse by a family member, and mental abuse by another family member for years. She became a registered nurse and had a career in nursing for over thirty years. She became a Christian in October of 1970, but followed a pattern which might typify that of many victims of childhood sexual abuse.  Her disastrous first marriage was a continuation of physical and mental abuse for her, and subsequently for their children. She remarried in 1992 and together she and her new husband continued to raise their family. Her faith has continued to grow, and her healing from abuse has taken many years, and lots of tears. But “God is faithful who has begun a good work in you and will see it through to completion in the day of Christ Jesus” She says she is not a victim, but rather a survivor, through the care and grace of God.

Her life verses are Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans that I have for you; declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not calamity to give you a future and a hope; and Joel 2:25-26 Then I will make up to you for the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The creeping locust, The stripping locust, and the gnawing locust., My great army which I have sent among you. You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied, And praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; Then my people will never be put to shame. NASB

She received a call from God on her life in the summer of 2007 to minister to women, especially those who have been abused and exploited. In the fall of 2008 she left her nursing career to answer this call. This book was birthed by the Lord as a part of her healing, and it is her heart’s desire that others may find healing through the poems God gave her.
