What A Laugh
I’m not here, I’m somewhere else -
On one occasion when the insurance man came for the weekly payment of 2d - old money Mum instructed me to go to the door and tell him that she was not in! So, dutifully, with my instruction carefully in mind I opened the door - the man said, “I’m from the Pru.” (Prudential Insurance Co. a widely used company in those days) I briskly replied, “My mother’s just told me to tell you that she’s not in!” Oh! Some mothers do ‘ave ‘em!
With a wry smile he replied. “Tell your mother - who’s not in ... that I’ll soon call again.” And he left.
Guess what Mum, cringing pitifully, said to that!
A Visitation from the Dark Side
I noticed a movement to my left by the door that was adjacent to the bed head. - A short dark figure was entering the room and it moved to the foot of the bed, I saw it very clearly. It was no dream. Vaguely, it resembled an upturned black shuttlecock. There was a head shape but no features. The material was black. There was a cloak over the head to about the waist area where it seemed to fall in folds. The skirt was also fluted and reached the floor. I called out to Dorothy, but to my horror, I produced no sound. I felt terrifyingly powerless.
Dorothy slept on.
The apparition spoke -
A soft brightness came into view and settled completely over me like a healing coverlet. - It was roughly the length and width of my body and I had the sensation of being cocooned in incredible Love! - The trouble in my soul, the pain in my hands, arms, legs and feet and the tunnel of fire in my throat, were taken away.
Beautiful Light and Love were soothing away all my suffering, cooling my feverish body and more wonderfully, washing me clean inside, producing in me a glorious state of Perfect Peace. I was a man re-created, made over, renewed!
The experience was not of this world, but truly, of heaven - A world within a world! - Heaven on earth!
I can find no words to begin to describe the wonder - the magnificence, of it. I thought that I was going through a very blessed death experience and I totally gave myself over to it.
Later, I understood it to be a baptism in the Holy Spirit of Jehovah God - a personal Pentecost, well-known in spiritually alive Christian circles. It happened to the first Christians soon after the resurrected Jesus was seen to rise up into the clouds and beyond to join his heavenly father.
The blessings following the Gift of the Holy Spirit that have come to me cannot be described adequately. So many spiritual blessings: - the Joy, glimpses of Glory - at special times experiencing His touch which transmits Peace and Power < body="">

About the Book

About the Author
Dorothy was born in a village in Bradford W Yorkshire. She was living in Interests have been: - music - from Beethoven to the Beatles, singing, mostly in church choirs - walking - reading - psychology - humour and gardening. She has written poems, letters and articles for books - local magazines and press. With a Methodist background, by a positive public step of faith aged fifteen Dorothy began to experience the reality of God for herself and for most of her life she has been involved in Christian Worship and Service, also taking interest in other faiths and a wide spectrum of religious experience, belief and thought.
