Just about then, the scruffy, matted Stinky came running at full blast around the corner of the porch. “Whoa! … Whoa! … Whoa!” barked Mabel firmly. “Look what you’ve done!”
Stinky screeched to a halt inches from the tiny toad and stared at her prize. With her tail wagging, she proudly barked, “I know! I know! … It’s quick! It’s quick! Hard to catch! Hard to catch!”
“He is Toad,” barked Mabel angrily, “and he is terrified!”
Stinky’s tail stopped wagging, and she softly barked, ”Sorry! Sorry!” She perked up her ears again. “Gotta run! Gotta run!” And like that, Stinky ran out of the yard and into the trees again

About the Book
In Mabel and Stinky’s first adventure story, Mabel finds a terrified toad in the weeds by her porch. Mabel tries to help Toad by finding out who’s responsible for snatching him from his stump in the woods. Mabel fears she may never get Toad back to his home without help from the mangy and reckless Stinky, the yard misfit. This is a story of trust, bravery, and new friendships that may just surprise you.

About the Author
Casey Salmon, along with her husband, Mike, have three children, Andy, Ryan and Courtney. She has written several children's books and is just beginning her publishing journey. The two main characters in her first published book are inspired by her two dogs, May (Mabel) and Frannie (Stinky). This book is about trust, bravery, and new friendships. It offers good life’s lessons for young readers. There are hidden acorns in each illustration, so even children who are not yet readers are able to explore the pages of the book. Casey is not only the author, but also the illustrator of her books, and she greatly enjoys bringing her characters to life on paper. Casey enjoys imagining new characters and creative drawing. She loves reading to her children and is inspired to write by the life lessons that they teach her. Casey is also inspired, humbled, and intrigued by the wisdom of her grandmother, Catherine. Casey and her family have fun fishing, boating, swimming, biking, and playing with their dogs. They reside in her hometown in Central Illinois.
