About the Book
Using young dogs as characters, this book introduces the general symptoms and onset of Type I diabetes. In a playful way, young children can make the connection between their own diabetes and diabetes in animals. The story ends happy when Jake receives insulin, feels well again, and is able to play with his friends.
About the Author
She has been a diabetes educator for over 30 years. She was awarded Michigan Diabetes Educator of the Year by her peers in 1997. Her years of counseling at a hospital based outpatient diabetes center included adults and children. She is a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the American Diabetes Association.
