About the Book

This book helps young children be prepared for when a new baby comes into the family.  This story is a little more unique because it focuses on a young girl who is an only child and has a baby cousin on the way.  The young girl and her mom have a very special relationship where feelings and experiences are talked about openly and honestly.  This story talks about the special bond between parent and child and highlights how a new baby adds to the joy of the family and does not take away any prior role the first born child held.  At first, the child struggles with having to share the spotlight in the family when she has been the only child and grandchild for over 4 years now and the child has many questions about why her auntie is having the baby, not her mom.  The family supports the girl through her journey and answers her questions with open arms and love.  The little girl comes to understand her own role in the family remains special while she takes on a new role of a big helper to her baby cousin.

About the Author

Dana Neil lives in Washington State and has worked in the social services/medical field for over ten years now.  She has always loved writing as a hobby but this is her first published book.  This story is based on her life of when her sister had her first baby.  Dana's daughter, an only child, had so many questions during this time.  Dana and her daughter bonded so much in talking about the new baby and explaining the exciting new role of being a big cousin, that information for a book seemed to be right at hand.  Dana and her daughter enjoy spending time going to the zoo, the movies and playing games together.
