About the Book

Mark Johnson is a provincial litigation lawyer, daily presented with choices, some easy, some difficult, some forced upon him, others with which he struggles, as his relationships develop and fade with Carol and Sue. The reasons behind those choices that he and those close to him have to make, their motivation and consequences, weave a web between them; but  that ultimate choice, the one that follows and haunts him, is denied in the end him.

About the Author

Chris Allen is himself a practising lawyer. Living quietly with his wife in Worcestershire , he splits his time between a hectic professional life and those occasions when he can sit and ponder and write. Long in its gestation, his first novel was ultimately brought to life by the present of a  laptop  from his wife one Christmas, a laptop that has travelled the world with him, his writing inspired by suns setting over oceans and seas and encouraged by gin and tonics lovingly made by her and voraciously drunk as he tapped away.
