About the Book

Reasons for Buying a House contains a selection written over four decades.  The poems come from experiences with his family: two children, adult now, and one beautiful granddaughter.  On a broader scale, he lives in a lively extended family relationship, eight brothers and sisters, countless nephews, nieces, cousins, mother and mother-in-law, both in their 90’s. These interactions provide endless opportunity for reflection, enjoyment, struggle, and love—all material for gratitude as well as for poems.  In addition, events at school, on the bus, in the newspaper, and especially in nature inspire poems regularly, some of which appear in this book.
