You buoyed up my sinking heart
The heart that clings
Tearfully to the mast of your love
My heart finds solace in you
Imprisoned by your care
Bound by your love
Freed by your great affection
The weakness of my limbs
Succumbs to your loving strength
Swallowing down that bait
Of our loving existence
You are my elixir dear Pisces
The master key to my heart
The key to that gate of lovingness
Awakening the desire of one forgotten love
Tortured by that loving look
Gingering that spring of life in me
The trump card of my sound existence
You are my all
And my greatest prize catch

The river rippled with delight
At the apex of his fright
He waved his hand in the air above
Struggling with the wave
Coping with the impending flight
Of the life in him
Like someone involved in a weird dance
Trying to utilize his only chance
Helpless as if in a trance
And we watched from a distance
The river rippled with fame
As if enjoying the game
We watched from a distance
Like heads housing no brain
Like the head of an imbecile
Allowing only the growth of hairs
Alas the wave jubilated at his exit
And at the disaster it built
And splashed on our faces
The waters of guilt.
Let go!
My tears trail the path
Of my flight
From a culture that is cruel
That challenges its offspring to a duel
In the land of unrewarded innocence
Where the Guilty danced samba
To the incantations of petty gods
A civilization in slumber
My most recent grope
Lately rewarded with a new hope
Like a tongue of fire
Burning in the alter
Of unfounded guilt
This day I am to merit
What I was denied to inherit
The eyes of the Persecutors
Goggled in askance
This is only a beginning
They have eyes
And never will see
Questionable choice
Can this breeze of life in me see tomorrow
Blowing up this skirt of life which I borrow
A choice of life which I did not actually make
Children were chosen by their mothers
From the hospital of life I believed
That was my earlier naive belief of creation
In my moment of rage I had once asked
Why did you choose me dear Mother?
I had questioned this accidental creation
Nature imposed relatives
A better choice I would have made
Nature enrages at our indifference
Not minding our differences
But our incongruities never congruous will
Like a blemish that never goes
That is duly attached
A blemish that is divinely imposed
Across the oceans and deep seas
Far in places where eyes could not readily see
In the depth of thickness of forests
Disappointment reads on the carpet of faces
Faces wrinkled with friendly smiles
Faces of brothers and sisters
Whom for us nature failed to choose
Incompleteness
There was an inner consolation
That rewarded an outward truancy
When a show of profanity
Confirmed a rehearsed infirmity
The nails that clawed
Added vigor to our flaws
Sustained a scaffold of our hardiness
Like an Elizabethan Clown
That insisted on a bad humor
Refused to leave the stage
There was a surge of appeal
An appeal that chastity bedeviled
And our indifference reviled
A game that promised useful
Sneered at the opposing strength
An event dissuaded a Front-liner
Weakened a proven strength
Melted the iron of sportsmanship
Hope that is badly raised
Faces the danger of false praise
And the peril of precocious exit
And it gathers no moss
When it finally rolls

About the Book
The 'Endless Voices' is a tinkle of an idea that eventually resulted in a massive waterfall. It is an actuation of inner agitation and a thunderous outburst that, now, knows no limitation... an inner agitation that had been held up in his make-up for the time period that dated as far back as he could hold a pen. It is like a thought that is poured out into a cast of many imaginations. It embodies poetry that delves into the fabrics of all human endeavors. It is a life-time collection of poetry in its fineness. It simulates a seed that is sown on rocky soil...
Like the fulfillment of false prophesies.
Like the bold step of a Sleep-walker.
Precise and pathologic.
A cataract of patience. It is like a murmur and an inaudible mumble that broke the barriers of shyness and incoherence, giving way to a surge of thought and vociferous voices. Such voices are endless.
About the Author
Dr. Theo (philus) Igboekwe was born in Enugu, Nigeria. He received his early education at the
Dr. Igboekwe was greatly inspired by his Father, Nzeadachie, who taught him how to hold a pen and who deliberately provided the family with two Oxford Advanced learner’s Dictionary of Modern English. His siblings, especially his brother, Lawrence and sister, Nkiru, contributed immensely to his literary growth.
After his farm management career, he decided to study Human medicine. He attended the Christian Albrecht Universitaet zu Kiel, Germany. After his graduation, he relocated to the United States of America.
Dr. Igboekwe is a member of the International Society of Poets and has won many awards (e.g. The Editor’s Best Choice). He was nominated one of the best poets for consecutive years, by the International Society of Poets. His poem, ‘The Great Gamble’, featured in the ‘Best Poets and Poems of 2007’. With his ‘The Executioner’, he contributed to the ‘Who’s Who in Poetry’, a poetry compilation of the International Society of Poets.
He was awarded ‘Poet Fellow’, by the Noble House Publishers, London and Poetry Ambassador of America, by the International Society of poets.
Theo Igboekwe is widely traveled. In his own words, “I know the mentality of the world.”
