Walking through broken pieces
Of the past I leave behind
Like stepping through a minefield
Barely getting out in time
With fragments of my spirit wounded
Metal pierces at my soul
I continue on to somewhere
That will finally make me whole
I stop to count my blessings
Hold them closely to my heart
And each tomorrow's ending
Finds me closer to a start
I conceal the healing process
Hiding scars too deep to see
He's sending mending on the inside

About the Book
Better for the Journey is a tapestry of poetic experiences in the life of a contemporary woman. A compiliation of song lyrics and poems, life experiences are penned on pages. Some of the writings are about fictional characters. Many of the poems reflect the author's real life personal journey. There are glimpses of trials and tribulations, usually ending in a triumph of hope.
About the Author
Amee Dan was born in Dothan, Alabama and moved to Oklahoma as a pre-teen. She is a single mother of three children and a school guidance counselor. She has a bachelor's degree in Juvenile Justice and a master's degree in Human Relations with an emphasis on Counseling.
