ABOUT THE AUTHOR

T. A. is a native of Alabama having been born near the end of the great depression in 1934.  His early education was in the public schools of Chilton County, Alabama at the Verbena Elementary and High School.  However, in 1950 the family moved from rural Chilton County to Montgomery, Alabama.  In Montgomery he attended a private military school from which he graduated in 1952.  At the military school, Starke University School, T. A. excelled in football and made the Montgomery, Alabama All City Football Team in the 1951 football season.

At a very early age, T. A. began to feel a call to the ministry which led him to attend Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham.  While in college he began to preach and was soon called to his first pastorate in 1953.  After graduating from Howard College, he served for three years as associate pastor of the Forest Lake Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. T. A. graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky with a Master of Divinity degree in 1965, and a Doctor of Ministry degree in 1980.  For thirty-four years he served as pastor of the Seven Hills Baptist Church in Owensboro, Kentucky. He has served in numerous positions of leadership in the city of Owensboro, the local Baptist Association and in the Kentucky Baptist Convention. In 1999, he retired and since that time has continued to preach and serve as interim pastor of several churches in Western Kentucky.

T. A.’s first wife, Helen, died tragically in a fire in Alabama in 1997.  They had one daughter, Panda Prickett Krouse, and three grandchildren, Nate, Aaron and Rachel Krouse.  In 2003, he married Martha Shutt of Greenville, Kentucky.  They are currently residing in Owensboro, Kentucky.

This is T. A.’s second book since his retirement.  His first book, We Preach Christ: The Man, The Method, The Message was released in 2004.  He has also written his memoirs, A Cold Day in July, which was released in 2007.
