About the Book

About the Author

Eks Ewizee was born and raised in urban America. As the youngest of five siblings, Eks benefited from the care, example, support, parentified sibling modeling, and instruction of his older two siblings.  They were thrust into this role whenever his mother was fortunate enough to be employed. His mother (who just so happens to be an ordained, licensed, certified preacher) combined this with a more than a sufficient helping of good-old-fashioned transplanted southern religious upbringing. Eks remembers as a child part of his mother's day to day challenge being to determine how the day would not pass without the six of them sitting in someone's church at some form of Healing Service, Bible study, Church-Person's Anniversary, Mid-Week Whatever, or Sunday Service.

His well-entrenched religious roots gave him not only a familiarity with theological doctrine, but also an appreciation for the human condition. This would prove to be invaluable, as Eks would easily find himself able to communicate a relative unconditional regard for the experiences, perspectives, and ideas/desires of others. As early as high school he was the "go to guy" for peers as well as some adults seeking fair, balanced, but practical advice on many life issues.

This combined with his worldly exposure and experiences through excelling in amateur, collegiate, and semi-professional sports, dramatic theatre, and a profession that catered to extensive travel & public/large group presentations; Eks' day-to-day experiences served as the world laboratory that provided the experiential & informational drop-back for much of what is brought to light in Stupid Things that Black Women Do.

It is the author's desire that the readers will humorously recognize a few of the snares that befall many who are in as well as those seeking healthy long-term relationships. The decision(s) to make adjustments... rests with the individual.
