Stupid Things That Black Women Do

There is a popular socio-cultural belief that personalities and drives of men are somehow representative of the red planet, while those of women are representative of the water planet.  Allow me to offer a furtherance of such a theory.  Due to the unique historical variables that have and still do impact the world of African-America, there has developed an interesting paradigm through which the African-American male views the world… in particular for our purposes here, the world of females.  To that challenging end, I dare to take a look at the dance of the dating game through the lens of the darker complexioned Martian.  A lens that must filter a national (U.S.) history of forcibly being stripped of one's ancestry, and robbed of one's dignity.  A history of being stolen from one's only sense of connectedness – land and family – and chatteled from one location (plantation) to another, with the message that one's only contributory worth/value rested in one's ability to procreate.  A history of generation upon generation lacking the adult mirror image upon which to gaze in order to proudly ascribe to be like.  A history whose religion told its women that it is an abomination to yield to many of ones human natures – even in the sanctity and covenant of marriage.  A history that set a foundational decree (via the United States Constitution) that rendered him as being only 3/5 of a man.  A history whose social, political, economic, and judicial systems continue oppress with the right hand, have a hidden cross-fingered left hand, while simultaneously offering promises and denials with the mouth.  A history that has reinforced the notion that it is better and safer for the African-American male to continue to self medicate with the literal & figurative drugs, lubricants, anesthesias, and pleasures of life, rather than sober-up and take his rightful place in himself, in his home, in his community, and in his society.  Because were the African-American man to do such, the entire fabric of current American society would be torn to shreds.  Regardless of how tolerant "America" attempts to posture itself to be, the reality is that the one thing America will not tolerate is a Black man of African descent taking his earned and much deserved, and long overdue citizenry in the US. 

Critical to our doing so is the acknowledgement and reconciliation of this macabre dance party that we invariably – with addictive like nature – are drawn to, as well as we invite others to.  Kinda like bugs to a zap-lamp…deathly irresistible.  The sooner we recognize the murder-suicide Russian-roulette tragedy at hand, and actively take measures to end it, the sooner we will be able to focus on the real critical and growth fostering & sustaining matters of this thing called life.
