“What happened to the pie?” Emily sadly asked her mother.
“Well Emily, I was just about to ask you the same question? Yesterday, I placed the pie on the window to cool. This morning when I went to get it, it was gone. Do you know what happened to the pie?” her mother asked.
Emily looked at the window, then looked at her mother, and finally shrugged her shoulders and honestly replied, “I don’t know.”
“Emily, I am placing you on punishment for fibbing. After breakfast, you must go straight to your room,” her mother scolded.
“NOOO!” Emily said as she started to cry.
Emily was saddened that her mother did not believe her.
After she finished eating her breakfast, she went straight to her room as she was told The whole house was quiet as Emily and Beautiful sat by the window in her bedroom puzzled about the missing pie.
