When the nurse put the baby girl into her mother’s arms for the very first time, the mother cried happy tears. “Now I know what love is. You’re so teeny tiny and we’ve only just met, but I’ve never felt this much love in all of my life.” she whispered to the little angel who snuggled up against her. The mother giggled with joy, feeling a whole new love fill her heart. She kissed her little girl’s soft cheek and whispered, “You’re exactly who I want to be when I grow up!”
When the little girl was one year old, she took her very first steps. The mother watched her little girl in amazement. She held her breath as the little girl toddled away from the security of her mommy’s hands and took two full steps before bouncing down on her cushy bottom. The little girl laughed out loud and her mother laughed with her.
She scooped her little girl into her arms and held her up high. “How brave you are, my little lion! You’re walking onward into your own little world!”
The mother laughed with joy for the little girl’s big victory. Two tiny steps! A very big victory indeed! “You’re exactly who I want to be when I grow up!” she said.
When the little girl was two, she swung on her swing for the very first time. The mother took pictures of the little girl’s daddy pushing their little girl back and forth. As she swung, her small feet reached high into the air! Her mother cheered and clapped.
When the little girl climbed out of the swing and into her daddy’s arms, her mother ran to her. “Mommy!” she squealed, “I flew! Did you see me fly?”
“I did see you fly! I think you’ve grown wings!” her mother said. “You will always fly if you believe that you can!”
The mother scooped her little girl up into her arms and laughed in her daughter’s joy. “You’re exactly who I want to be when I grow up!”
The little girl giggled and squeezed her mother’s neck tight. “Mommy is grown up!” she said.

About the Book
Do we ever really grow up? What does it mean to be a grown-up? Who really learns more in the parent-child relationship?
When I Grow Up is the poignant story of a mother who watches her daughter grow, realizing just how much she learns, loves and continues to grow as a result of learning from her child. While adults may be “grown up”, they never really finish growing, as the mother tells her daughter over and over through the years. “You’re exactly who I want to be when I grow up”, is the phrase the little girl hears from her mother through her formative years. Through the years, she giggles at her mother’s ‘silly phrase’ reminding her mother, “You are grown up!”
At the age of eight, she finally asks her mother why she always says this and why she doesn’t understand that she is already a grown-up. It’s then that she realizes that her perception of a grown up is far different than her mothers, as she discovers all of the many things that her mother has learned from her.
When I Grow Up is a book that children, mothers, parents, grandparents and first-time parents will all enjoy. Any one who touches the life of a child will be surprised or relate to just how much their own life is touched by that child so deeply. About the Author
Kristy Eisenberg is the author of many works, including short story collections, poetry and children’s literature. She is the co-owner of MyIdea Productions LLC(www.myideaproductions.com) , a multi-media production company, with her husband. Kristy is a contributing author for IceWorm Enterprises LLC (www.icewormenterprises.com). She is currently writing “The Adventures of Irwin the Iceworm”, a series based on a loveable Alaskan Iceworm, created by Allan Gregg, available in spring, 2009.
A graduate of Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan, Kristy earned a B.A. Degree in English-Writing. She is a long-time advocate of various animal welfare rescue groups and enjoys volunteering her talents to local community organizations. Her former professions include Human Resources, Corporate Training Development and Customer Service. She resigned in the spring of 2008 to dedicate her time to her passions of writing, launching her own company, and to savor her daughter’s fleeting childhood years. Kristy resides in Clarkston, Michigan with her husband Jeff, daughter Rachael and their dog Zoe. “When I Grow Up” is her debut children’s book.
