Excerpt from Chapter 2: Within the Walls of Life
When I first begin writing this book, I met several women from all walks of life. It was amazing to see how everyone differed in their thoughts and behaviors. I often asked what they wanted out of life, what was their main goal? And the answer was what I expected, happiness, love and success because this is the foundation that we measure the meaning of life on. Question: Should it be a given to assume that as much as we want happiness, love and success that we want and desire to live our lives based on the teachings and expectations of God first? Is this noticed in the way we talk or in the way we behave? Is this noticed in the way we live? What happens when we no longer feel important or our mind tells us the opposite of what God shows us? When the balance is off between giving and receiving within ourselves we become lost, we stop seeing life and our place within life as being significant and we slowly began to fade away until we become invisible.
“God and the Invisible Woman”
Born so vibrant, love echoed through her eyes peace was felt within her touch, concern was heard throughout her cries. Did not know to take the world for anything but great, now that the girl is growing up, and she’s introduced to hate. Hard to keep her self-esteem and her confidence is low, confused of what all of this means, she feels she has nowhere to go. When the young girl was three, she remembers going to church, she was taught about this man that absorbs your pain and hurt. She declined the invitation because she did not believe; she just could not have her faith in someone that she could not see. As days turn to weeks and weeks grew to months, the now woman wondered how she could return to the person she was once. Nothing was going right; she could not get on her feet. So strangers begin to invade her existence just to make her ends meet. Month after month and now year after year, the cries of the once concerned have turned into shallow empty tears. The woman came a part of something that she use to fear, the more time passed she slowly faded and begin to disappear. People on the street didn’t notice it’s like she really did not exist, invisible to the human eyes cold heart, cold breathes not missed. Little did she realize that through all her trials and such, that there was a man that followed her and loved her all so much. She looked around for anyone to help but there was no one in sight, and like a dream He appeared within one hopeless night. She felt his presence within her soul as if he came to collect his lamb, she ask please tell me who you are, he replied, I am that I am. No longer will you stand alone, amongst this broken light. For I created you to be much more, I promise, not maybe nor might. Who are you, she asked once again tears strumming down her face, HE answered Alpha and Omega, is what I’m called and you’ve falling far from grace. Now take my hand, confess with your mouth and repent deep within your heart. I forgive you and now it is the time for you to do your part. Forgive yourself for all that you’re blaming yourself for, a life brand new I’m granting you, you’re invisible no more.
Stop everything you are doing and in this very moment tell yourself that as of right now, I am going to be the best (your name) I can be today and for the rest of my being because God is a giving God and He gave me life. As easily as we can claim the notion of being the best we can be starting right now, we are just as easily distracted and discouraged. In a perfect world we would all accept ourselves for who we are and respect others as individuals. But as we know we are not in a utopia type of lifestyle. Every smiling face is not smiling on the inside, some laughs are disguises for tears and some women can’t treat you any better than they treat themselves because they were never shown or taught respect. If you feel as if you have lost what makes you a wonderful person, take the time to find out what happened. At some point every woman struggles with something in their life, rather it is her religion, self- image, finances, relationships, addictions and sometimes worse. Our attitude, our behavior is all affected by some part of our life, and at times we are so consumed by self, family or other aspects of life that we don’t make time to address what has attached itself to our subconscious. This is what feeds our instinct to have bad attitudes, intolerance of the tolerable, and excuses excusing our behavior.

About the Author
Audrey Burke-Moore was born the youngest of three girls in 1981. At an early age, her parents and teachers noticed her ability to express herself through creative writing and art. Now a married woman with two children of her own, she is reaching out to all women in her crusade of empowerment.
