This book is a diary of my reactions to emotional pain and disappointments while growing up; and how these reactions affected my family, marriage and social relationships.
My goal in telling my story is to heal and not to hurt. As such, I have chosen to leave certain things out of my story that I am led to believe might do more harm than good. For the same reason some names have been changed to protect the innocent.
I am using the opportunity of writing Women are Spiritual Bridges to interpret an aspect of my social development from the perspective of my Bible-based beliefs. Writing Women Are Spiritual Bridges has given me an opportunity to clarify these experiences, helped me make sense of what has already happened and helped me recognize ways in which the issues of relationship are understood in the Bible, in Christian history, in theology and in practice.
I believe sharing my own personal experiences in Women Are Spiritual Bridges will demonstrate how individuals can transcend the community’s worldview and remain in a marriage and family relationship despite tremendous odds to the contrary.
The events in Women Are Spiritual Bridges have forever affected my mind, heart and behavior. Through these experiences, I have come to realize that I am always a member of community, never an isolated individual.
I need to be able to share with the larger community this which has already happened, because I strongly believe it will make a difference in the way both men and women view marriage and their roles in the marriage and family relationship.
Through writing Women Are Spiritual Bridges, I share what my limited human capacity has been able to grasp of how the Holy Spirit has worked and continues to work in my life; causing me to turn towards God for comfort and understanding. Through this writing experience, I have finally learned what that “something” was that had eluded my understanding for so many years.
As a child, my bruising was so subtle, so invisible to the human eye until I had no words to describe what I was growing through. I certainly had no weapons to fight because “you can’t fight what you cannot describe.”
I share dialogues with the Holy Spirit that led to my spiritual awakening and transformation. I also share how God used remnant people to aid in my spiritual formation - a spiritual formation which is a never-ending and continuous process towards sanctification.
Through this writing, I also share knowledge that the Holy Spirit has empowered me with to help my understanding of this Christian walk and deepen my faith.
I tell my story laying bare my struggles in seasons rather than in years. This is necessary because I could only understand what God was doing in my life by looking back over it. As a result, my memory may have caused me to remember some events out of sequence.
Only at the end of this writing journey through time and space did I begin to realize God is doing a new thing in these last days! I believe He has raised up a generation – a remnant people for his namesake. He has set remnants in the midst as His instruments to be used to minister in troubled families. These instrument may have been heavily bruised as ones raised up in battle zones; but by His stripes are now healed. God can only use those who can hear the trumpet sound, overcome the wounds and allow themselves to be drawn near to Christ. Not everyone who says “Lord, Lord!” is able or equipped to handle this most important assignment. Only those who are able to see beyond themselves and catch a heavenly glimpse of God’s overall, redemptive plan are able to be used mightily by God. “But to all who believe Him and accept Him, He gives the right to become children of God. We are reborn! This is not a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan – this rebirth comes from God.”
My story is how I have become part of this remnant generation of people.

About the Book
Reverend Bren Gandy-Wilson sees a bridge as a means of connection or transition; and spiritual discernment as being able to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and comprehend that which is not evident to the carnal mind. In time this ability to grasp and understand leads to a deepening humility as the Holy Spirit leads one into becoming a vessel that God can use for His Glory.
In Women Are Spiritual Bridges, Bren takes the reader on a journey through her struggles with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), and how it affected her childhood, family and marriage relationships.
Through reading the Word of God, coupled with counseling sessions from a female remnant of God, she came to understand that it is only through redemption, that one can renew the mind, making the conscience captive to the Will of God. Without this transformation, it is impossible to please God, or make a perfected change and become a vessel through whom God can speak and use for His Glory and His cause

As a
As Spiritual Bridges, Bren believes that it has been granted to Women of God (and men as well), the right to suffer for Christ’s sake (Phil. 1:29). Yet, when she suffers, if she faithfully represents the message of Christ through word and example, the fruit she will bear in herself and in others will far outweigh the cost. If she endures, her afflictions will seem light compared to the glory she will receive with Christ Jesus.
According to her faith, Bren came to understand herself as a Minister of Reconciliation. Her ministry is to preach the elevation of all males back to heads of household; and to help all females understand how to have peace with God through assuming their rightful spiritual roles as Women of God.
About the Author
Rev. Bren Gandy-Wilson, a native of Hamlet, NC, received her education in the public schools of
Rev. Wilson was called into ministry in 1996. She was admitted into the Central North Carolina Conference of the
Bren is a retired Exceptional Children’s Coordinator. She has taught children and youth for over 20 years. A major part of her teaching technique involves storytelling for the purpose of helping to shape character and teach moral values.
She is former host of the weekly Radio Bible Study program, Walking By Faith; and also a member of the Storytellers Guild of Laurinburg, N.C.
In addition to writing BRIDGES, she is author of the plays, “General Crack Cocaine” and Stand on Your Knees” (also a chapter in BRIDGES). The latter was showcased in
Since completing BRIDGES, Bren has written two other manuscripts, Becoming Totally Committed (The story of sanctification) and “Whose to Say that Cats Don’t Pray (a whimsical story about a stray pet who heals its owner).
Rev. Wilson is a widow and the mother of three children, Lency Donnell, Veleka Laecolia and Eddie Bernard; and grandmother to DaQuan and Caleb.
