About the Book

The Mask, is an unconventional autobiography that reads more like a novel. It begins with a reading from a psychic that becomes the catalyst for writing and revealing a story, which weaves through a stolen childhood, the crumbling of a marriage, a healing journey that, in turn, leads into past lives, future lives, and touches on the mystical and magical from which most of us disconnect in childhood.

Sela-Smith's story is itself a mask for a deeper story of the masks all of us wear to feel safe, to be accepted, or to find love; far too often, we come to believe that we are the mask that we wear. Sometime in life, we notice that who we think we are feels false and empty, causing us to feel as if something important is missing. Through her story, Sela-Smith supports the reader in finding his or her own real self.

This book is not written only for the novice in self-reflection, but also, for those who may have been on a spiritual quest for decades but still feel a sense of disconnection from the deepest places inside.

On the front cover, the author entreats the potential reader to not come to the end of your life without discovering that you are not the mask. By reading The Mask, you may be more willing to take your own journey of discovery to find out who you are under your mask, which will allow you to live the rest of your life with joy and purpose in the peace of knowing who you truly are.
