THE HOME INFORMATION PACK
It is now a legal requirement for you to obtain a Home Information Pack (a “HIP”)
before you market your property for sale.
Therefore, as soon as you have decided to put your house on the market, you will need to instruct a suitably qualified person to prepare a HIP for you. Most Conveyancing Solicitors can provide this service to you and so can Estate Agents, usually through a third party.
The requirement to obtain a HIP applies if you wish to market your property yourself or through an Estate Agent. It is the responsibility of the Seller to compile the HIP and to pay for it!
A HIP contains the following information:-
· an index
· a
· Property Information Questionnaire
· an Energy Performance Certificate (“EPC”)
· proof of ownership
· a local authority search

The book gives an in-depth view of all stages in a Conveyancing transaction to guide both a Seller and a Buyer, through what can be a very stressful time.

About the Author
