What really made me want to give up…a little is, one night Marge dropped Roger off and came back to get him. I walked out to the road and started walking down the road behind the car. They turned around and came back. He must have told her to stop, because she did.
I tried to talk to Marge again, trying to explain Roger did not love her. That he was using her to get beer because he did not have a job. She laughed and so did my husband. I caught hold to the door of the car. Looking back on it, I don't understand why I did that. I guess I thought I could hold the car back if she drove off. Anyway, he told her to drive off. I was still holding the door, lost my grip; fell and my lip hit the pavement. I busted my lip, broke my tooth and scrapped the back of my hand. Do you think he stayed with me? NO! He did stop to see if I was all right. He saw my lip busted and bleeding. I said my tooth is broken and. I guess I was in shock because I was trying to find it.
Marge said, “Look at what you made me do”.
Marge and Roger, both got back in the car. He told her to drive on. He drove off with her, down the street to his mom's house, leaving me to walk back to the house alone.
While walking back to the house, my daughter met me outside. She asked me, “Are you going to leave him alone now?” My daughter was eight years old at the time. I looked at her and said, “No, this will make him come home.”
Roger must have told his brother what had happened because his brother called to see if I was all right or needed to go to the hospital. I told him I needed to go but, only if my husband went with me. I guess they convinced him to go because Roger and his brother came and took me to the hospital. Marge was following behind us like a puppy dog in her car...I know he told her to. We got to the hospital. They cleaned and stitched my lip. Roger kept going in and out of the room. When we came out of the hospital, low and behold that long blue car was in the parking lot. I tried talking to Marge again, but like I mentioned before she only believed Roger and that he loved her. He also told her the only reason he comes home is to see his son. She would not believe me when I told her he never paid attention to our son. He was trying to get me in the bed. She only believed him.

About the Book
De'Lois had no plans of getting married when her and her children moved to Tar Heel N.C. in 1988. She left Brentwood MD. because she felt it was no place to raise her children. Life was great. She was living the country life she always desired and talked about. Then one evening in 1992 this man walked into her life. He told her how he felt about her and wanted a chance with her. De'Lois was reluctant because of the age difference, but decided age had nothing to do with love.
They were married February 14, 1993, De'Lois was looking forward to enjoying a life with her new husband. Too bad things didn't happen that way. Before the honeymoon was over, De'Lois discovered Roger had a serious problem with alcohol. Roger began lying, cheating, and staying out all night. Not only did Roger's actions cause heartache and pain, but shook the very foundation of the marriage and their home. Too add more fire to the furnace De'Lois had to quit work due to back problems causing financial difficulties. De'Lois refused to let go because she realized Jesus had plans for her and Roger. Find out how she learned to lean and depend on the Lord more and more through the heartache and pain. After all, it is through sickness and health to death do us part. Right?
Through it all, Roger and De'Lois have been married for fifteen years. They have a total of nine children and four grandchildren.
About the Author
De'Lois Washington McMillan always had an interest in writing. In fact as a child she copied poems just for the fulfillment of this hobby. As an adult she wrote poems and kept diaries of different periods in her life. After graduating high school, De'Lois moved to Maryland where she began her college career at Prince George Community College in Early Childhood. After moving back to North Carolina in 1988 she continued her degree in Early Childhood, graduating "most outstanding student in Early Childhood. On February 14, 1993, De'Lois married Roger McMillan. They have a total of 9 children and 4 grandchildren. They reside in Saint Pauls, North Carolina with their son De'Rog Allen McMillan. Roger and De'Lois celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows on February 14th, 2008. This was done to the Glory of God and the shame of the enemy. "The enemy thought we were down and out for the count, but the Lord had other plans. In reality the Lord was preparing us for our purpose in life and we are victorious in Christ Jesus."
